What This Product Does

The CSV‑2542 is a high‑performance USB‑C® docking station designed to expand a single USB‑C® connection into multiple display outputs, USB ports, high‑speed networking, audio input/output, and Power Delivery charging.

It supports up to four external displays simultaneously, depending on host system capabilities and operating system behavior.

DisplayLink® Driver Requirement

To enable full video output functionality, the DisplayLink® driver must be installed on the host system.

Without the DisplayLink® driver, display outputs driven by DisplayLink® will not function correctly.
A system restart may be required after driver installation.

Hybrid Video Architecture

The CSV‑2542 uses a hybrid video architecture, combining:

  • Native DisplayPort™ Alternate Mode video streams from the host GPU, and
  • DisplayLink® USB graphics technology, powered by the DisplayLink® DL‑7400 chipset

Native DisplayPort™ Alternate Mode is used when supported by the host system to deliver direct, GPU‑driven video output.
DisplayLink® technology provides additional display streams over USB data, enabling extended multi‑display configurations beyond typical GPU limits.

Which display outputs are driven by native DisplayPort™ Alternate Mode and which are driven by DisplayLink® depends on:

  • Host system capabilities
  • Graphics controller
  • Operating system behavior
  • Installed drivers

Actual display resolution, refresh rate, and performance are limited by the host system, and do not represent a limitation of the docking station itself.

Single Display

  • DisplayPort™: up to 8K@60Hz
  • HDMI™: up to 4K@60Hz

Dual Display

  • DisplayPort™: up to 8K@30Hz
  • HDMI™: up to 4K@60Hz

Triple Display

  • DisplayPort™ 1: up to 8K@30Hz
  • DisplayPort™ 2: up to 4K@60Hz
  • HDMI™: up to 4K@60Hz

Quad Display

  • All displays up to 4K@60Hz

Actual results depend on host system resources and configuration

Important Power Requirement

  • The docking station supports USB‑C® Power Delivery input up to 100 W
  • 15 W is reserved for dock operation
  • Up to 85 W is available to charge the host system
  • External power must be connected for full functionality

Important Compatibility Notice

  • Best performance is achieved when the host USB‑C® port supports 10 Gbps USB data
  • HDR is supported on Windows systems
  • HDR is not supported on macOS for the four video outputs
  • Supported operating systems include Windows and macOS

Common Questions

Will this docking station always support four displays?
Display count depends on host system performance, USB bandwidth, and operating system support.

Does this dock use DisplayPort™ Alt Mode or DisplayLink®?
It uses both. Native DisplayPort™ Alt Mode and DisplayLink® are combined to enable extended multi‑display output.

Is external power required?
Yes. External USB‑C® Power Delivery input is required for full functionality.
